Recovery Week: P90X, Food & Vegas

I'm now in my fourth week of P90X. This is "Recovery Week," and the final week of Phase 1 already!

It's been nice to give my muscles a break this week. I've been taking time just doing some cardio, stretching, Yoga in a couple days and of course a Kenpo X session yesterday!

I love the "routine" of P90X, but I also think these "Recovery Weeks" are just what the body calls for. It's a good break from routine and schedule. I love the discipline, but I also love the rest!

This week is also a "Recovery Week" from my food disaster weekend in Vegas! I must say - I am not complaining about Vegas - we had a BLAST! But my system needs a good recovery from food and everything else. We got in to Vegas on Friday morning. By Friday afternoon my stomach was already severely bloated. Food...food...food!

I am honoring and appreciating being back on my diet this week and recovering! I guess all good things must come to an end...that is until I return to Vegas again! Cheers!

Apple Crisp, Lemon Cake, Pizza....Oh NO!

I deviously went off of the GAPS Diet while I was back home in Minnesota. Here is just a "taste" of what I ate:
  • Pizza (Yellow Mushroom - the BEST)
  • Apple Crisp
  • Lemon Cake
  • Ice Cream
  • Candy Corn
  • All fruits
  • Breaded Chicken
  • Sweet Potatoes
  • Alcohol
Ok....I'm stopping there. I'm embarrassed. That list alone makes me feel like a failure to those of you who follow this blog day-in and day-out as I proclaim the "evils" of all those foods to me. But then again, I stop and wonder, "Does it really make me a failure OR does it make me just a girl trying to maintain some sort of normalcy?"

In the end, I've decided that it doesn't matter. What matters is that I'm HONEST with everyone reading this and following me on my journey.

I have good days and I have bad days. I have many, many, many more good days than bad, though. I learn from my mistakes and I move on.

Just so you all know, though, eating like this is definitely a mistake! I have not been feeling well since I began eating in that way. My stomach has been so upset - so bloated - so uncomfortable. Thankfully I was able to "get sick" a little this morning.

I jumped back on the GAPS upon waking today! I know that "this too shall pass."

Food aside, it was an amazing weekend with my best friends and family!

Detox Time

Day 67.

I think I will have to move forward with my all-out detox beginning on Sunday or Monday. Leah wants me to try it, since I'm doing most of it already. But there are a few things that will change. I realized I needed to do this today, when, I got bloated again. I felt a little bloated upon waking. Even though my stomach wasn't very "twisty" or turning and I was able to go to the bathroom one time, I got very bloated. It got bad around 4 or 5pm tonight. I look like I'm pregnant again! I drank a cup of Chocolate Smooth Move Tea, and I also took an Epsom Salt Bath. I'm hoping this helps.

One thing I'm concerned about is Protein. I wonder if I don't digest it properly. I took 4*HCL's with 2 of my meals today. I took all the other supplements as I'm supposed to. I wonder if my system, since it's not fully healed yet, has a really hard time working so hard with the protein? I do eat a lot of protein in the form of fish and lean meat. I don't remember ever being this bloated - if any bloat at all - when I detoxed a few years ago. That detox meant no meat. Leah believes in the term "Flexitarian." I LOVE THAT TERM! It means you can still have meat, but that you eat mostly vegetarian. She said that for my "detox," the only meat I can have is Organic. Basically, what that means to me is.....NO MEAT! Organic meat is so expensive!

If it wasn't for this stomach problem popping back up again, I would say I had an excellent day! My mouth was twitching again - yeah!! I am now even feeling a "pulling" sensation underneath my tongue on the left side. It sounds weird, but I know it's such a good thing. My mouth was about a 0/1 all day. I think a couple of times it was a 1/2. Overall, though, excellent again!

Today I will choose to be happy for the successes, rather than depress over the setbacks! Even if it's just one good thing a day, that's more than it was a few months ago at this time! H.O.P.E.
