Time. Commitment. And new Goals.

In less than a week I will be going to my first ever "Sports Doc" appointment. I guess this could officially prove that I am an addicted health/fitness phene:)

My feet have not improved a ton, despite the fact that I have not been running. They have definitely "uncramped" to a degree, but they are not to the point where I feel like I should be running a marathon.

I do not know what the outcome will be post-visit. But what I do know is this: I have been enjoying myself and I'm not willing to sacrifice my time for the marathon "accomplishment." Let me explain.

I have been running and running and running. Mostly because I love that feeling of "accomplishment." There really is nothing better than knowing you've accomplished something. But what I was finding is that now, not even 13 miles, makes me feel that "accomplished" because I've already achieved it. So then I had to get to 15 miles to have that feeling....and so on.

And despite this "love" of accomplishment, I was beginning to wonder - "surely there MUST be another way to get this feeling without feeling feet-and-ache-death all the time." Between my addiction for my career, moving up and achieving other things in life WHILE still trying to maintain a personal life, quite honestly - I just don't have the time nor do I want to make the time. Running to achieve 5 miles might take 40-50 minutes. But then you get to 10 miles, 15 miles and more...and the time commitment to have that "feeling of accomplishment" just became a commitment that I"m not willing to make anymore.

I know there are people reading this thinking, "But I thought she loved it so." I do! But I can still run (willing the Doc says) just not running to the ends of the earth. Do you know how hard it is to run 20 minutes High Intensity? I could do that. Or maybe I could do hills for 20-30 minutes. The sky is the limit.

More importantly, I think I'd like to create NEW GOALS for myself - health, fitness and overall vibrant-type goals. I'm not sure what they are yet. I'm still working on figuring that out. Suggestions?! I will, without-a-doubt get some new goal in place. (Can you tell I'm extremely "goal-oriented" yet?!)

In the meantime, I'm loving that I am extremely excited to get to the gym each and everyday. Or be outside walking with my husband and our dogs. Or going for long bike rides. And guess what? I've lost 2 pounds, am less achy and am doing it all within 1.25 hours!

2010: A Brand New Year and a Brand New Decade

Happy New Year!

I spent most of my first day of the Brand New Year and Brand New Decade resting, relaxing and detoxing. I needed to after the fun last night!

I have completely dived back into the GAPS Diet. Today I gave my system a much needed "break" from digestion. I ate very little (chicken and turkey) but focused more on broth and water. Now that Day 1 is over, I can move on. This week, though, I will remain completely carb free, except for maybe 1/2 a ripe banana and/or well-cooked allowed vegetables. I will be back on all Probiotics, Enzymes and Probiotic Foods. I can guarantee that come Wednesday or before I will be feeling amazing!

I am so excited for this Brand New Year, 2010 and the Brand New Decade! There are so many things I'm looking forward to and so many goals I have put out there for myself.

I want this year to be another year of change! Change is good! We need to keep "shaking it up!" I find that it's the moment I let myself become complacent that I am not as happy. Each day I reinvent myself, my thoughts and my attitude is just one step closer to another goal accomplished!

I am reminded, yet again, of my Power Quote from the Curly Girl Designs,
"I am fairly certain that given a Cape and a nice tiara, I could save the world."
I believe it's as simple as that and as simple as this: Positive attitude. Quirky thoughts. Random-ness. A good laugh, smile or cry. And Passion. LOTS OF PASSION!

Goals are waiting and ready to be achieved....CHEERS!

A Sweet 2009

It's that time of year again - everyone is thinking about and talking about those 3 little words: New Year's Resolution.

Every year at New Year's, I, like everyone else make my resolution. Only I don't just make one, two or even three. I make an entire list! But instead of calling them, "New Year's Resolutions for Sarah Kay Hoffman," I just call them, "X Year Goals."

Goals

This year is no different! And this year I am calling them a plethora of things:
  • New Year Goals. Inspirations. Passions. Motivations.
  • A Brand New Decade
  • 2010
  • Simplified
My father-in-law told me last year, "Let's just see if you can get through one goal!" To him I responded, "Thank you for the challenge!"

For my "2009 Year Goals" I had created upwards of 20 Goals. Of those goals, here are the achievements I was most proud of:
  • Ran my 1st half marathon
  • Figured out my food intolerances and how to help myself
  • Began a Blog
  • Built my Social Media Network
And then there was the Goal that was not on there as of January 1, 2009 - "Work for Nike as a Human Race Ambassador, promote via Social Media and win a trip to the Superbowl in 2010."  That, although unplanned, was my greatest success (Let's go Minnesota Vikings!)!

I have yet to make my entire list for the "2010 Year Goals," (and yes, it will be complete for tomorrow!) but perhaps what's more important for me to remember about this list I'm about to finish is this: The Possibilities are Endless.

I have proven to myself that no goal is out of reach. Whatever it is you want, with a ton of hard work, perseverance and passion, is possible!

They say that "the shortest distance between two points is a straight line." I know now, though, that even if I can't get from A to B in one, simple straight line that I can get there by never giving up - getting it done - "zig-zagging" if need be. And sometimes, the outcome is all the more sweet after you've taken the "longer way!"

So....to 2010 - Carry on! I'd love to hear all of your goals!

Happy last day of 2009!
